The Savory family have been farming for generations with livestock being at the forefront of what they do. They, along with the surrounding farmers work together to improve water quality, soils, woodlands and wildlife species, with the most recent highlight of their work being the return of Corncrakes and Turtle Doves to the area. Creating an exceptionally diverse environment for all life matter to flourish.
This week for the first time we have Savory beef on The Old Dairy Menu
This week will be the first week that you will be able to have the Savory family’s Beef from The Old Dairy Menu. There are so many reasons as to why we are working with this local farming family as our beef supplier, with their quality of product and full traceability just a few to name.
The herd of Aberdeen Angus stay on the farm their entire lives and as a breed are ideally suited to the rough grazing that we have on the surrounding grassland and marshes. The land that they graze on is located within a Special Area of Conservation (S,A,C) next to the River Wensum and with the farm being a member of the Upper Wensum Cluster Group, the knowledge and environment that these beautiful animals are brought up in all contributes to a superior product.
The Cattle are important to the maintaining of the diversity of grasses and vegetation as their everyday movements help stimulate 1000s of plant dependant microbes and fungi beneath the soil.
All of this paired up with the love and affection that the Savorys nurture the Cattle with, culminates to what we believe to be the most sustainable and flavourful beef available to us. Perfect for our Roast Beef sandwich’s.
